Hi fellow CYA’s! As we celebrate Easter, let us continue through the year to live out our faith in prayer, contemplation, and being attentive to our Lord. A great way to do that is to participate in adoration! This month (instead of Catholic Conversations) we will meet for adoration and a meal. Please join us as we adore, pray, and venerate at St. Josephs!

6:30pm-7:15pm Adoration at St. Josephs Old Cathedral (come earlier and/or leave later). If you do not have the door code, we will have someone there to get you in or text Dominic Hoang (405-204-1012) or Leah Cote (949-923-9018) for the door code (door located right off the main parking lot of the church)!

7:25pm Dinner after adoration at The Garage Burgers (.5 miles North of the church)!

Have you ever wondered how the Catholic traditions of celebrating the Triduum came about? I guess you could say it’s a 3-in-1 deal: Three nights, one event, plus…Palm Sunday! Retired U.S. Navy chaplain Fr. Philip Creider, a hermit priest serving the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, has prepared a presentation on the history of Holy Week and wants to share it with us for this month’s Catholic Conversations. Fr. Creider only leaves his home once or twice a month, so it is really an honor for us to have him as our guest. Come join us and learn about the liturgies of the best week ever. We will meet at St. Francis of Assisi on the 3rd floor of the Meerschaert house!

Remember when you were a kid and your mom would always tell you,”Shhhh….be quiet!” Well, God tells us that too, even now as adults. He calls us to be quiet, so that we learn to listen to him and make space for him. Come learn about the concept of silence and what role it could play in our daily lives. Does silence really apply to people today? Is it possible? If I want to learn silence, how do I even start? Join us at Catholic Conversations to learn more!

Do you sometimes struggle with “how” to pray? Sometimes it seems to work; you feel the connection with God, but other times it seems like you just can’t connect, or that He has abandoned you altogether. And what’s worse, in those times when it seemed to be working, you have no idea why or what you did to make it work.

Prayer and the spiritual life can be difficult to navigate and understand. Executive Director of Evangelization and Catechesis for theArchdiocese of Oklahoma City, Jim Beckman, will be talking about fundamental relationship skills for the spiritual life, and how to grow in ever increasing intimacy with God!

Please come join us for beer, BBQ, and fellowship as we learn more about our faith. Come a little early at 6:45pm to eat and socialize. Mr. Beckman will begin speaking at 7:30, and should wrap up around 8:30 to give us some some additional time to visit with each other and discuss his talk.

We hope to see you all there!

There will also be adoration available before and after ToT at St. Joseph’s Old Cathedral (one block west of Blu’s BBQ). If you are interested in joining and need the door code, please text/call Dominic Hoang (405.204.1012) or Leah Cote (949.923.9018)

“You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” -Jesus, ~33 AD

To start off 2018 we’ll be doing our first catholic conversations over an apologetics topic: the papacy.

What is it?
Why do we have it?
Does it matter?
Is the papacy infallible?
Does the current pope have as much say as St. Peter, the first pope? Why?

We’ll go over all these questions and more this Thursday! Come with questions you or your friends may have and we’ll discuss how to defend this critical aspect of the Catholic faith!
