I didn’t know if you all were aware of this, but DECEMBER is actually the month in which we celebrate the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe…which is exactly why we chose to talk about it at our JANUARY Theology On Tap (we would have chosen it for December’s topic, but we decided not to have Theology On Tap last month since we were really busy planning Jesus’ birthday party).
Do you all know what a tilma is? Hopefully NONE of you know. I’d like to think I’m pretty smart, but when I was talking to Fr. De Loera on the phone about this event it stopped me dead in my tracks when I heard him use that term because I had no idea what he was talking about (thanks Mom and Dad for putting me through 8 years of Catholic schooling so I would learn everything BUT what a “tilma” is). Father Cristobal De Loera from St. Eugene’s church knows quite a bit about Our Lady of Guadalupe…or at least I think he does. I remember that he kept talking about her a lot while we were on the phone, but I didn’t really catch much because I was too busy Googling “tilma” and saying “uh huh.” Thankfully he didn’t throw any other tricky words at me, so I successfully made it through the conversation and secured him as our speaker for this month.
So if you don’t know what a tilma is, come on out to Theology on Tap this Thursday and Fr. Cristobal can fill you in. If you already knew what a tilma was, good for you! You should still come out to hear Fr. Cristobal because the tilma is just ONE of the elements of the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Fr. Cristobal is a great speaker who will no doubt incorporate some other insightful things that apply to your life into his talk. Plus, there will be lots of BBQ, beer, and Catholic fellowship!
Come and see why Theology On Tap is the Catholic Young Adults Group’s most popular monthly event.

Happy New Year everyone! The idea was brought together to attend mass at a different Catholic Church each month. This is a great way to enjoy the amazing Catholic Church’s in OKC and surrounding cities. And of course the great congregation they each have! Some of us will stay after Mass to spread the word about Catholic Young Adults of Oklahoma City and what we are all about! Please feel free to attend Mass and/or hang out for a bit afterwards! We might even grab lunch after Mass! Please come a bit earlier so that we can all sit together! And if you have a CYA shirt, wear it! Mass is at 11:30a.m. Hope to see you at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends and I hope you all have a great new year! As you might already know, we are not only starting the new year of the calendar, but we recently started the new year of mercy through the church calendar as well. So why not come this coming Thursday to celebrate the new year of mercy through prayer, adoration, great discussions, socializing, snacks, and some fun (pool, air hockey, foozeball, etc). You will not regret it! We hope to see you there! Stay safe for New Year´s tomorrow night! God bless!
P.S. It is located in the large building/chapel behind the church, St. Andrew´s in Moore.
